Orbital Satellite Services, Ltd. will provide technology and services that enable the revenue-producing lifetimes of telecommunications satellites to be extended by up to 12 additional years through the use of its unique SMART Orbital Life Extension Vehicle (SMART-OLEV™) "space tug" system.

The SMART-OLEV will dock with a client's satellite, providing the attitude and orbit control functions after the spacecraft‘s normal propellant load would normally be depleted – allowing valuable telecommunications relay platforms to continue functioning, and maintaining their orbital slots in a very cost effective manner. Capable of multiple dockings/undockings, the SMART-OLEV constitutes as powerful satellite fleet management tool for the satellite operators.

The company is offering purchase and license revenue models for customers of its satellite life extension services, with the first flight of an SMART-OLEV targeted for 2010.

Orbital Satellite Services is a consortium of three leading European space companies: Swedish Space Corporation, Germany's Erwin Kayser-Threde GmbH, and Sener Grupo de Ingenieria SA from Spain.

It is incorporated in England, and the management team is led by CEO Baard Eilertsen, who has more than 25 years of satellite industry experience.
